Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America

Hyundai Motor Group partnered with a select group of SCAD students across multiple majors to participate in a 5-day design sprint to brainstorm and create important media for their VIP Clientele that would be visiting their Meta Plant in the Lowcountry of Georgia, not far from Savannah. With 6 separate teams and 37 students chosen from over 140 applicants, these teams worked on their respective concepts which were then presented to important members and directors at both the Meta Plant, and Hyundai Motor Group, as well as to respective members of the SCAD faculty and staff. My group, “Team Ioniq 5,” came in the top 3 finalists for our designs that sought to incorporate eco-friendly materials for printed media using seed paper from local Savannah wildflowers, as well as eco-friendly inks. My contribution to the project was the layout, design, and implementation of the calendar which would be given in a special package to select visitors and VIP personnel.

The challenge for the calendar included focusing on subject matter that directly aligned with the plant. As such, I chose the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 to be featured on the pages of the calendar. They are complemented by familiar landscapes, architecture, and monuments that have become a staple of the Savannah experience, reflecting its rich cultural and working-class history, and growing infrastructure. The final result is a colorful dichotomy of imagery juxtaposed with large text.
